Music Updates

Open Hand used to be one of my favorite bands, but it appears that they have left their old pop-rock sound for something more aligned with indie rock.  This isn’t sad news per se, because I’ve stopped listening to pop-rock and started listening to indie, but their new music just doesn’t do much for me.  Check it out for yourself here.

Divinity, who sound like a mixture of Gojira and Strapping Young Lad (yeah, orgasm!), have posted 3 new songs on their myspace from their upcoming album, The Singularity.  I haven’t been this blown away since I first discovered Remission.

Arsis have set a release date of January 15 for Starve for the Devil, the follow-up to the incredible We Are the Nightmare.  It seems like with each album these guys just keep getting heavier/better, so I’m definitely looking forward to this slaying.

Nile is also coming out with a new album, Those Whom the Gods Detest, on November 3.  Karl Sanders has been saying the new album will have less of a death metal vibe and will be more influenced by middle eastern music, but I would say that statement describes all of Nile’s albums.  Go check out their new song for yourself here, and tell us if Karl is being honest.
